Binissalem on the Majorca island

Are they a wine lover? Then they are exactly correct here. The capital of the wine contains approx. 6.000 inhabitants. The name Binissalem comes from the Arabian name „Banu Salam or „Banu Salim, which is called so much as „Sons of the freedom” or „Sons of the Salim”. Many constructions there are built with the Binissalem stone. Also they can visit wine cellars that from these rock are uplifted.

The wine from this region is than only the island through the origin denomination Denominación de origen protected. In the 14th century was pressed in the great wine extent. Until the 19th century the wine production increased to the multiple. Suddenly the wine building 1900 slowed down as the vine louse also on Majorca came in. Many vines fell to these pests to the victim. Firstthrough the introduction of the American vine, the viticulture could flourish again.
